Who are we?

East Tarot is a small workshop dedicated to making historical playing cards by hand. Our decks: tarot, standard playing cards, and Minchiate are produced using traditional stencil and woodblock methods, working from historical sources to create decks that are faithful to their origins in material as well as form.
We use handmade laid paper, natural pigments, beeswax finishes, and hand-cut stencils. The process is slow by design. We believe the best cards are made one at a time, with attention to every layer of colour and every cut edge.
If you’ve found us, you probably already know that most playing cards on the market bear almost no resemblance to what people once held in their hands. We’re here to change that one deck at a time.
